Plot Worlds Explained
JPlots offers two different ways to handle plots on your server: dedicated plot worlds and SMP mode. Understanding the difference helps you choose the right setup for your server.Dedicated Plot Worlds (Default)
By default, JPlots uses dedicated plot worlds. This is the traditional approach where you have specific worlds set aside just for plots. How It Works
- Plots can only be created in worlds you specify in the config
- The entire world is treated as a plot area
Configuration
In yourconfig.yml, you’ll see:
When SMP mode is disabled, the plugin applies world-wide settings to plot worlds, like disabling PvP, preventing mob spawning, and other protection features across the entire world.
SMP Mode
SMP mode is perfect when you want plots to work alongside a normal survival world. Instead of having separate plot worlds, plots can exist anywhere! How It Works
- Plots can be created in any world on your server
- Protection only applies inside plot boundaries
- Areas outside plots behave normally (PvP, mobs, etc.)
- Great for survival servers where you want plot protection in specific areas
Enabling SMP Mode
To enable SMP mode, set this in yourconfig.yml:
When to Use SMP Mode
SMP mode is ideal when:- You want plots in your main survival world
- You need plot protection in specific areas only
- Players should be able to build freely outside plots
When to Use Dedicated Plot Worlds
Stick with dedicated plot worlds when:- You’re running a boxpvp or gens server
- You want all plots in separate dimensions
